    Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), previously known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), is a metabolic condition that can impact hormonal function and wellebing. Symptoms can be varied and may include irregular periods, skin and hair changes, weight and mood disturbance and sometimes infertility.

  • Perimenopause/Menopause

    The transition phase through to menopause can be characterised by a range of symptoms including abnormal bleeding, mood changes, skin and hair changes, sleep disturbance, irritability, changes in bladder function and loss of libido. Focus on strength training, muscles mass and bone health are also an important part of this life stage.

    Our multidisciplinary team includes Australian Menopause Society registered practitioners who will undertake a comprehensive assessment to individualise a care plan that best suits your needs.

  • Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

    Heavy Menstrual Bleeding is a common condition that can affect up it 1:5 reproductive age girls and women. Heavy bleeding can interferes with your physical, social, or emotional quality of life.

    There are a range of non hormonal, hormonal and surgical options available depending on your stage of life, personal preferences and the underlying cause of your symptoms. Our specialist team will undertake a comprehensive history and examination to work with to find the solution that best works for you.

  • Endometriosis & Pelvic Pain

    Endometriosis is a long-term condition that causes inflammation and pain. It happens when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows in other parts of the body. In Australia, endometriosis affects 1 in 7 women. Symptoms may include fatigue, severe period pain, pain during ovulation or during/after sex. Pain symptoms may also occur when going to the toilet and when you have a full bladder.

    Endometriosis can affect each person differently and having an expert assessment of your symptoms and concerns will ensure you have a care plan and treatment goals designed to best manage you. Alongside our speicalist women's health doctors our allied health and wellbeing team can provide a holisitic integrated approach to your care.

  • Contraception

    There are many things to think about when choosing which method of birth control is right for you. Your stage of life, medical and surgical history, current health and lifestyle are all factors to consider alongside your personal preferences.

    Our home's health team will take a detailed history and guide you through a number of available options that may include:

    - hormonal long acting reversible options

    - oral hormonal contraceptives

    - vaginal ring

    - non hormonal IUD

    - barrier and other methods

  • Cervical Screening

    Cervical Screening (previously known as a PAP smear) is recommended for all people with a cervix between the ages of 25 and 74. Routine screening should be undertaken every 5 years and is designed to detect the presence of HPV. Participation in the program is one of the most effective ways to detect precancerous changes in the cervix and to prevent the development of cervical cancer.

    You may choose a clinician (doctor or nurse) collected sample that is performed by speculum examination and direct sampling of the cervix, or a self collected vaginal swab that samples the upper vagina for the presence of HPV.

    If you have an abnormal result you will be followed up more closely or be referred to one of our gynaecologists for a colposcopy (microscope examination of the cervix).

  • Infertility

    Problems with fertility can affect up to one in six couples and may cause feelings of being overwhelmed, anxious and stressed. Whether you are trying to conceive for the first time or looking to grow your family we have a team of specialist doctors who can undertake a comprehensive medical history and arrange investigations for you.

  • Fibroids and Adenomyosis

    Fibroids are benign growths that develop, usually in the muscle layer of the uterus. They can cause a number of problems including heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, pressure symptoms in your pelvis or disruption to your bladder or bowel function. For some women they may cause fertility issues but many women may also have no symptoms and fibroids may be detected during investigations for other reasons.

    Adenomysosis occurs when the lining tissue of the uterus grows into the muscle layer and will commonly present and painful or heavy menstrual bleeding.

    Management of both fibroids and adenomyosis requires an individualised approach tailored to your symptoms and care goals. Thorough assessment of your history, examination findings and investigations will allow our doctors to guide you through the options best suited to your needs including medical and surgical options.

  • Incontinence and pelvic floor disorders

    Prolapse and problems with bladder and bowel function are common conditions that women may experience. Factors that may contribute to the development of issues include menopausal changes, repeated straining or coughing, heavy lifting, chronic constipation or childbirth.

    There are many ways to support your pelvic floor health and to manage prolapse and incontiencent symptoms. Pelvic floor exercises, support devices and a range of medical and surgical options are available to women experiencing bothersome symptoms and our women's health GPs and gynaecologists are experts in managing these common conditions.
