Dr Gbemisola David-West is a private specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist practicing on the Mornington Peninsula. Gbemi recently immigrated to Australia from the United Kingdom, along with her husband who is a GP in Mornington, and two young daughters.

Gbemi graduated in medicine from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK in 2012. During her degree she was awarded a Rotary International Scholarship which she used to obtain a postgraduate degree at James Cook University, Australia. She also received the Norwich Medico-Chirurgical Society Batty Shaw Prize as recognition for her contributions to the medical school.

She completed her specialist training in the Oxford deanery, UK, completing her advanced training modules in high-risk pregnancy and advanced labour ward practice. Her love for education led her to pursue a Masters in Medical Education at the University of Oxford. She is currently in the process of obtaining her RANZCOG Managing Medical and Obstetric Emergencies and Trauma (mMOET) instructor credentials. 

Gbemi currently also works as a maternal-fetal-medicine Fellow at Monash, Clayton, where she specialises in high-risk pregnancies. 

Gbemi is considerate, empathetic and a patient-centred clinician who believes in providing equitable and effective care to her patients.

Where does Dr David-West offer care for pregnancy and birth? +

Patients seeing Gbemi for private obstetric care will have appointments at Bundle House and birthing care at The Bays.  Patients can be covered by private health insurance for their hospital admission or can choose to self-fund their care. Gbemi also provides additional support for public patients having GP led pregnancy care at Bundle as needed throughout their pregnancy

What gynaecological conditions does Dr David-West manage? +

Gbemi is able to counsel, treat and manage a range of women’s health concerns from adolescence and abnormal periods, cervical screening (PAP smear), PMOS, contraceptive needs, perimenopause, menopause, 

Does Dr David- West perform procedures in the consulting rooms? +

Absolutely.  Dr Gbemi has a keen interest in contraceptive care and is able to perform IUD insertions in the consulting suites with analgesic options available.  An initial appointment to discuss your history and requirements is undertaken first and the review appointment and procedure are then bulk billed including a post insertion ultrasound to confirm correct placement of your IUD.
